Meet Your Outsourced Finance Team

Here at Morphry Thyme we work as a team to provide an outsourced finance department for our clients. We believe it is important to build a strong relationship with our clients. Although you may not see us face-to-face, we are all working hard behind the scenes to ensure your books are in order.

If you’ve only ever spoken to us by email or over the phone, now is your chance to put a face to the name!

It’s a bit sad – QuickBooks, Spreadsheets and Data interrogation!

Gardeners World on a Friday night – who doesn’t love a bit of Monty Don?

Coffee in the morning, Tea in the afternoon.  It’s the law.

I love a trip to the coast.  Don’t mind where, just some nice, fresh sea air to blow away the cobwebs.

Kisstory is generally on my Alexa, so 90’s/00’s Dance/Trance, although I do enjoy a bit of ELO.

Ben - Director

Hi everyone! I’m the founder of Morphry Thyme. I started the business back in 2021 after realising that many small businesses could really use an outsourced finance team to help with their bookkeeping and accounts because they aren’t quite big enough to build an in-house team. I have worked for over 20 years in both accountancy practice and in industry, so have a wide range of experience working with and for SME’s.

I’ve worked alongside a number of owner managed businesses and many of my current clients are people who I have met either during my working career or through networking, which is nice to know I must have made a good impression!

I trained as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor when Cloud accounting first became a ‘thing’ around 10 years ago, and strongly believe businesses should embrace this, not just because it is now set in legislation (for VAT registered businesses anyway), also because it allows the books to be done more efficiently and allows access to all of your information so long as you have an internet connection.

Outside of work, I spend time with my wife and two children, our three dogs, two cats, two fancy rats, chickens and any other animals that my family decide to look after!  I also enjoy watching football (NCFC for my sins) and enjoy a good real ale.

I Work: Full time, Mon to Fri, 9am – 5pm
What I Cover: Migrating clients to cloud-based software, VAT Returns, Management Accounts
Software I Use: QuickBooks, Xero, Dext
Ask Me About: Complex bookkeeping, VAT, and management accounts queries. Migration to cloud-based software.

Louise - Management Accountant

I joined the Morphry Thyme outsourced finance team in February 2023 as Management Accountant.

I have over 25 years’ accountancy experience in both practice and industry working closely with owners and directors of SME’s. During my time working in practice, I gained my ACCA qualification and supported owner managed businesses across different sectors including agriculture, electricians, plumbers, construction and consultancy services.

For the last 9 years I have worked for a manufacturing company and understand the importance of providing financial information to allow the best decisions to be made for the company.

My role as Management Accountant includes producing Management Accounts for a number of clients, as well as being their main point of contact. I am also taking the lead on our Payroll service, as well as doing some VAT and bookkeeping too.

Away from work I enjoy spending time with my family, keeping active especially with my bouncy Labrador.

Angela - HR & Marketing Co-Ordinator

I joined Morphry Thyme in March 2022 as a Business Administrator after completing my Business Management degree. My degree covered a broad range of subjects including accounting and finance, advanced strategic management, economics, project management, human resources, and marketing. During my time with Morphry Thyme my role has evolved to Business Coordinator and then to HR & Marketing Co-Ordinator.

My role is to ensure that Morphry Thyme complies with legal requirements by keeping our staff training and records up to date. I keep our social media and website updated, and work with Ben on other marketing strategies. I also do some bookkeeping work for clients as a part of our outsourced finance team. Alongside work, I am studying towards the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

Outside of work, I spend most of my time looking after my children and pets! I enjoy learning new things, so can often be found watching documentaries – nature and history ones are my favourites. Recently, I have become interested in researching military history. I am currently building portfolios of the careers of some of my relatives who served in the Armed Forces during WW2.

Lorna - Accounts Assistant

I joined the Morphry Thyme outsourced finance team in June 2023 as a bookkeeper. I’ve worked in finance since I was 18 (we won’t go into how long that is!) when my parents had their own business. I learned the ropes and took on more responsibility and then started my own business. I took over running the family business until its sale a couple of years ago. Following the acquisition I worked in the company’s finance department, learning new skills while studying for my accountancy qualifications.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children and dog and I’ll probably be found by the side of a football pitch cheering on my daughter who plays for Fakenham, or my son who plays for Holt.

Rachael - Bookkeeper

I joined the Morphry Thyme outsourced finance team in November 2023. I previously worked as an account supervisor for a bike hire company, where my main roles were maintaining the purchase ledger and credit control. I passed my AAT level 2 in 2020 and have recently started studying AAT level 3.

In my spare time I enjoy socialising over a glass or two. I have three grown up children who are my world. Now that my children don’t need mummy so much, I enjoy travelling abroad.

I have worked on a variety of clients, assisting with accounts, tax returns, VAT, and bookkeeping. I became AAT qualified in 2010 and have recently become a certified QuickBooks and Xero advisor.

Jemma - Director

My name is Jemma and I am the co-director at Morphry Thyme.  I assist Ben with day-to-day decision making, some data inputting and will often be the first voice you hear when you call in!

I have previously worked as a purchasing assistant for a furniture manufacturer, as a nursery nurse in a local Preschool and currently run my own Nail salon alongside working for Morphry Thyme.

Outside of work I spend my time with my children and dogs (and as Ben has already said, the multiple other animals I like to adopt!)  I also enjoy art & craft and make some small items to sell in local gift shops.
